Rohde & Schwarz wins bid for RRM system

The China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR) has selected a system from Rohde & Schwarz for certification in the field of radio resource management (RRM). The Protocol Testers R&S CRTU-M and R&S CRTU-S and the Spectrum Analyzer R&S FSU are being added to the Protocol Tester R&S CRTU-W, which has already been put into operation by CATR. Rohde & Schwarz thus provides the Chinese regulatory authority with a complete RRM system for which worldwide the most RRM test cases defined in specification 34.121 chapter 8 are validated.

The typical RRM test situation confronts the mobile phone with a change of the radio signal. The test subsequently determines how long the mobile phone takes to detect the better cell and to make the change. For RRM certification, CATR opened an invitation for tenders in summer 2005 and has now decided in favor of the system from Rohde & Schwarz.

In 2003, Rohde & Schwarz won a bid from MTNet, a CATR laboratory, and delivered the Test System R&S TS8950-W. The new cooperation with CATR – through its MTNet and CTTL labs – further strengthens Rohde & Schwarz's position on the Chinese mobile radio market.

The R&S TS8950 as well as the RRM system are suitable for certification in accordance with the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and the PCS Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB) and are available from Rohde & Schwarz.
