New functions with ODSL 30 distance sensors

Revised software offers even greater accuracy, shorter measuring times and extended configuration possibilities.

The ODSL 30 optical distance sensors from Leuze offer rapid detection, without physical contact or wear. They make use of the principle of phase measurement and also use internal referencing in order to achieve precise accuracy of ±2 millimetres over the entire measuring range (0.2 to 30 metres). Revised software now provides the user with even more functions. In addition to existing parameterization of the upper switching point, a lower switching point can now also be set by means of the membrane keypad and a menu. This means that switching windows can be defined independently for each of the switching outputs, up to three in all. For devices with analogue output, quick and easy adaptation of the analogue output characteristic curve is possible by means of teach-in during the production process. With the aim of achieving a finer measuring value output, values can now be read out in increments of 0.1 millimetres. Because of the shortened measuring time of up to 30 milliseconds, the measurement is also carried out much more rapidly, and in addition, the start of a measurement can be precisely determined by means of new synchronous measuring commands. Sensors located next to one another can therefore be synchronised and precisely adjusted to one another so that they supply their values at the same time and at the same interval. In addition to the reduction in the measuring time and the change of the display resolution, a further function available in the advanced menu for all devices is the setting of an offset/preset value to compensate for mounting tolerances.
