The IRCAM Geminis series: the first commercial dual-band infrared cameras in the world

Geminis cameras are the first commercial dual-band infrared cameras in the world. For the first time, it is possible to make use of the advantages of MWIR (mid-wavelenth infrared) and LWIR (long-wavelenth infrared) band with one single infrared camera (also called infrared imaging system or thermal camera). Geminis cameras perform synchronous pixel-registered acquisition of images in both infrared bands. The novel dual-band technology and the special software from IRCAM opens up completely new possibilities in IR imaging since it permits not only the direct comparison of MWIR and LWIR images but the real time overlay of both images.

The detectors of Geminis cameras is based on the latest QWIP technology. The extremely fast electronics is working with data rates of up to 130 Mbytes/s (unmatched for commercial IR cameras) and thus permits high speed IR imaging and thermography

Geminis IR cameras can be used for thermography (temperature measurement), radiometry (radiation measurement), passive infrared imaging and active IR imaging as pulse thermography or lock-in thermography.. Possible applications include characterization of materials, analysis of smoke and gases, identification of reflexions and precise contact-less measurement of temperatures.

The Geminis 110k ML is a dual-band infrared camera for versatile use in research and industry. It permits synchronous, pixel-registered acquisition in the mid-wavelength (MWIR) and the long-wavelength (LWIR) range. With a total number of 110.592 (384 x 288) pixels and an unrivalled effective data rate (131 Mbytes/s) it reaches a pixel rate of 34 Mpixels/s in both bands and a fullframe rate of 310 Hz.
