Jumbotugs Reach New Heights for SAS

SAS Ground Services (UK) Ltd. has expanded its aircraft service operations at Heathrow with three new specialised Jumbotug electric platform trucks. Designed and manufactured by the SEV Group for pre-take off maintenance and inspection work, the purpose-built vehicles will be used by SGS on its fleet of MD81, MD91 and B737 aircraft.

The new vehicles comprise standard Jumbotug PT225 electric platform tow tractors that now have had steps and a raised platform incorporated as part of a customised specification for SGS. The specially adapted vehicles have been designed to assist service staff carry out important aircraft wing and body inspection and de-icing operations. The improved access provided by the integral platform means that operatives can work in a safe environment, with reduced risk of falls.

SEV, owner of the Jumbotugs brand, is currently working on the development of a new range of high performance electric vehicles aimed at increasing the speed and performance characteristics of electric powered vehicles.
