Automated Acquisition of EM Image Data into centralised Image Archives

In many industrial and scientific lab environments, heterogeneous collections of light and electron microscopes are in use. Where images acquired from light microscope cameras or scanners are easily integrated into centralised archiving concepts, handling image and meta data from EM environments is more complex, as image generation and storage is typically done locally and in proprietary image formats.
An archiving concept is presented featuring generic, automated EM image and meta data acquisition.

The EM Reader is an optional module for the generic Image Management System ImageAccess to automatically import all kind of electron microscope images into an image archive. Meta data such as high voltage and calibration are imported directly into user specific data fields of the archive, and image files may be copied to centralized servers in their original format or are converted to standard formats such as JPG, TIF. Like this, image and meta data are immediately available for reports and presentations. The image acquisition work flow remains the same at the EM station, as data are collected in the background from your local computer.
The module supports the following EM file formats: Cameca FEI Gatan Hi-tachi JEOL LEO Philips point electronic Röntec SIS TESCAN Zeiss
