ABB launches hi-T180 - an all new dry-type transformer

The new hi-T180 transformer is based on cast coil technology, which enables it to withstand temperature rise of 125 Kelvin. The rugged hi-T180 is designed to last longer than traditional cast coil transformers that have insulation that withstands only a maximum of 100 Kelvin of temperature rise.

Nowadays, many customers are demanding smaller component sizes, for use in applications such as windmills, compact substations, and high-rise buildings. The smaller, lighter hi-T180 dry type transformer by ABB is designed to be a compact solution for every installation.

The hi-T180 is upgraded insulated and based on Class H materials in both high- and low-voltage windings. It combines a superior resin with enhanced mechanical and dielectric properties, as well as advanced electrical insulation technology. The hi-T180 dry type transformer meets the latest applicable European standards, EN 60076-11 (2004), which requires a maximum partial discharge test level of 10 pC.

ABB is currently developing additional models of the new hi-T series based on the same technology of upgraded materials focusing on special applications.
