Complete Support for DeviceNet-specific devices
With the 4.0 version of the DeviceNet Slave Source Code, Vector Informatik has made all relevant Group 2 Only Client functions available to developers of DeviceNetspecific devices. In addition to the newly added functions, such as support for the Offline Connection Set, Heartbeat Protocol and Shutdown Message, many detailed improvements have also been integrated.
By enhancing the internal interfaces, more messaging functions such as connection timeout or idle detection are now available for use. The internal status machine was enhanced in such a way that communication stops when the DeviceNet cable is removed and starts up again when the cable is reinserted.
Thanks to the use of efficient queue mechanisms, the run-times of the CAN Interrupt functions have been decreased by up to 20%. This creates major advantages most of all for 8-bit micro processors.
100% conformity to the DeviceNet standard (2.0 errata 5) was verified using the most up-to-date ODVA Conformance test tool.
DeviceNet Slave Source Code 4.0 is also interesting as an update from earlier versions. Despite the fact that its functional scope was heavily expanded, the
applications hardly have to be rewritten due to its comprehensive compatibility.
