Molecular Probes has launched a new platform comprising tools for the analysis of phosphoproteins and phosphopeptides. The versatility of the company's Pro-Q Diamond technology has been adapted for a number of new applications: high-throughput phosphopeptide isolation; EZQ phosphoprotein and phosphopeptide quantitation assays; and a tagging technique for liquid chromatography. The company's highly sensitive Pro-Q Diamond technology utilises a novel fluorophore to recognise phosphate groups on proteins and peptides. Pro-Q diamond stains can be used directly on gels, blots or microarrays without antibodies or radioactivity. Because phosphate groups are recognised directly, phosphorylation changes in whole proteomes can be seen at a glance, enabling efficient screening for proteins involved in signal transduction.
