Optris® CT – Innovative miniature infrared sensor for the use in high ambient temperatures

The Optris GmbH expands its product range and presents a new compact infrared sensor – Optris® CT. The two-piece unit exists of a sensing head with separate electronics. The design allows the miniaturisation of the size of the sensing head down to 4cm3. Thus an easy installation even in cramped spaces is possible.

The wide measurement range of -40 up to 900°C, which is combined with an excellent optical resolution of 20:1, supports a multi-purpose adaptation to various applications. As the stainless steel sensing head is designed for environments with ambient temperatures up to 180°C it can easily do without any cooling. Consequently, cost-intensive installations of mechanical cooling accessories are unnecessary.

The electronics of the sensor of the Optris® CT are accommodated in a rugged die-casting case. The user can choose between different analogue outputs (0/4-20 mA, 0-10 V or thermocouples of type J or K). A USB-, RS232- or a RS485-interface and a user-friendly software help to set the parameters of the sensor. Easily accessible programming keys and the backlit LCD display allow a smart panel usage. Thus the essential parameters can be installed and adjusted on-site and without a PC: temperature range, emissivity, transmissivity, part of the large-scale signal processing functions.

The combination of small installation size, high measurement precision and its rugged case qualify the Optris® CT for being a multi-purpose and low-cost solution for a vast range of temperature measurements in industrial processes.
The Optris® CT sets a new standard for the performance of the latest infrared technology.
