CCD Technology

The latest addition to Andor's imaging range, the back illuminated iXon combines EM CCD technology with back illuminated CCD technology enables the detection of very weak photon levels. By increasing the gain, the weak signal is amplified above the readout noise detection limit. The user benefits from shorter exposure times (facilitating faster frame rates), lower excitation powers, lower dye concentrations and higher magnifications. Quite simply, if photons are present, the back illuminated iXon will detect them.
