New Sensor Telemetry System Transmits Data via Radio and Inductive

Manner Sensortelemetrie has improved its tried and tested sensor telemetry system even further. A new version allows for the data to be transferred either inductively or by wireless signals. This way, the relative merits of the different types of system are combined. As is well-known, the battery-powered radio telemetry system is characterized by its ease of use, as there is no need to mount a pickup or rotor induction loop. One special feature is that the system has a range of up to 50 m when battery-operated. This is ideal for brief "kludge" measuring tasks. In spite of using multiple channels bandwidths of up to 40 kHz can be achieved. On the other hand, the inductive sensor telemetry system has an unlimited service life and provides extreme robustness under tough environmental conditions. It is not affected by interference. Depending on the application concerned, one or the other system is best suited.

The new solution can be used for battery-powered short-term measurement tasks, as well as for long-term measurements conducted over an unlimited time with an inductive power source. Measuring service providers only need to carry one type of system (weighing very little) in their hand luggage, which greatly simplifies logistics and maintenance. Thus even a system that has been mounted for short-time measurement can be easily converted to perform long-term measurements.

As with existing systems, the measured data is digitized in 16-bit form and securely transferred using a code. Besides great accuracy, this also guarantees a high level of reliability - despite the use of wireless transmission. The incoming measuring signals are practically "spick and span". Signal interference is thus a thing of the past. Yet there is still no need to do without the accustomed remote control capability with refined adjustable measuring ranges and autozero. In every case, the measurement data is transmitted without any loss of precision as analog data or else via CAN Bus, USB, Ethernet or EtherCAT interfaces for further processing. As a result, measuring service providers have a tool at their disposal that is well suited for every task they face.
