Magnet-assisted Transfection of Cell Lines and Primary Cells

Magnet-Assisted Transfection (MATra) is an easy-to-handle, very fast and efficient technology to deliver nucleic acids (e.g. plasmid DNA, siRNA, oligonucleotides) into many different cell types. The nucleic acids are bound by specifically coated magnetic nanoparticles (MATra Reagent).

Exploiting a strong magnetic force, the full nucleic acid dose is then rapidly drawn towards and delivered into the target cells resulting in highly efficient transfection without disturbing the membrane architecture. MATra shows low cytotoxicity and is functional with and without serum.

It can be used with adherent cells as well as with suspension cells that have to be immobilized temporarily using MATra-S Immobilizer. Using the MA Lipofection Enhancer It is also possible to combine the MATra technology with other common transfection reagents to optimize transfection results. MATra can also be adapted to high-throughput transfection assays using robotic stations and adapted protocols and is very cost effective.
