Mini car turboloader telemetry up to 200 000 rpm

In a time when oil prices are constantly rising and CO2 is being talked about in continually expanding circles, a car's gas consumption is extremely important for its sales success. The turboloader contributes to improving vehicle efficiency. For this reason, a series of new turboloader developments is going on right now. During qualification, the rotating components must especially be evaluated and optimized with regard to stress with respect to their load limits in various operating situations. It is known that these turboloaders in vehicle applications turn at speeds of up to 200 000 rpm.

The company Manner has further expanded its turboloader telemetry range. The newest addition is the new miniature turboloader telemetry for passenger car applications with the tremendous speed range of 200 000 rpm, which allows the measurement of bearing temperatures, torque and blade vibrations online. A special characteristic of the rotor electronics is their miniaturized design. A cartridge with a diameter of only 6 mm and a length of 35 mm, including the transmission antenna, and with a weight of only 5 g, which is screwed onto the shaft thread on the turboloader inlet. The measurement signal and the energy are transmitted without contact via the inlet port. Up to 4 sensor signals can be processed in parallel.

The transmission technology is completely digital with 16-bit resolution of the measurement signals. The temperature stability of the rotor electronics is 160°C. Despite the high speed of up to 200 000 rpm, there isn't much installation work to do.
