The new IUPS-401 uninterruptable power supply
The new IUPS-401 uninterruptable power supply from Bicker Elektronik, Donauwörth, can be installed into any 5.25-inch PC drive bay. The replaceable front bezel (black or gray) blends nicely into the existing PC front panel. The new UPS is rated at 400VA/ 240W, and it switches over to back-up mode in less than 6 ms when the line voltage falls below 196VAC or rises above 248VAC. There is a connector on the back for attaching the port on the USP to the computer USB port, which is a very convenient feature for office or home use.

Maintenance-free lead-gel rechargeable batteries (2x6V/3Ah) can supply emergency power to a 100W/166VA load for 5 minutes, or for about 2 -3 minutes to a 180W/300VA load. Internal filters protect PC hardware from harmful voltage surges and transients during line voltage operation. A PWM inverter in the UPS supplies power to the PC during back-up mode. Including batteries, the UPS weighs 2.75 kg, and the noise level is <35dbA.
The manufacturer offers UPSilon 2000 UPS management software for shutting down and turning off the PC via the UPS port and USB bus if a voltage failure occurs. The software runs under Windows 3.x, 95, 98, NT, 2000, 2003, XP, ME, Novell, OS/2, UNIX and LINUX. UPSilon 2000 sends a voltage failure message to the display, saves files automatically, shuts off the UPS and restarts the PC when line power is restored. The replaceable front bezel (black or gray) is unobtrusive and can even enhance the appearance of the PC. The UPS is easy to install and is a valuable accessory for any PC user to prevent loss of valuable data.
