Hirschmann presents new media module for MICE switches at the Hanover Fair

Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH, Neckartenzlingen, is presenting a new optical media module. With this module for the switches of the MICE family which are approved for installation in explosion protection zone 2 as well as optical transceivers and connectors of the microFX series, remote terminals can be connected safely via Ethernet in zone 1.

The media module which has four optical ports (100 Mbit/s) with M12 connections is designed for a temperature range of -40°C to +70°C. The printed circuit boards are coated with a special varnish for protection against condensation (conformal coating).
The signals are transmitted from the module to the remote terminals via fiber optic cables. MicroFX transceivers with M12 connection technique in accordance with IEC 61076-2-101 serve as an Ethernet interface. The remote terminal may therefore easily get the necessary approval for explosive zone 1 atmospheres (EN 60079-28:2007, Part 28).

The MICE switches which are designed for mounting on DIN rails support both Fast and Gigabit Ethernet and various routing, redundancy and security methods. They are therefore especially suitable for use in industrial networks with complex applications.
