New products and features at SPS Drives 2007

Pepperl+Fuchs develops, produces and markets a wide range of sensors and sensor systems for industry, satisfying stringent requirements in terms of quality and innovation. At the SPS Drives 2007 Pepperl+Fuchs presents new products in the areas of Identification Systems, AS-Interface, Inductive and Photoelectric Sensors, Encoders, Inclination Sensors and Image Processing.

An inductive sensor with a wide field of view and a reduction factor of 1
The reduction factor 1 sensors, which detect all types of metals at the same range, have meanwhile become the state-of-the-art. Pepperl+Fuchs has now developed a new oscillator, which has a 50% higher switching distance and thus offers a solution to many application problems: A switching distance of 12 mm with a cylindrical sleeve of only 18 mm diameter. These 3-wire sensors, with a (teflonized) brass or high-grade steel housing, are also available in a welding-resistant version.
Hollow shaft encoder with sine-cosine interface
In drive technology in the elevator field, speed, acceleration and position feedback are the most important control parameters for ride comfort. The high resolution of the status signaling system on the drive plays an essential role in this. The encoders from Pepperl+Fuchs satisfy the high demands in terms of accuracy in this area of industry, with a hollow shaft diameter of 15 mm for the Series RHS58 and 45 mm for the Series RHS90.

Inclination sensors for industrial use
The new F99 generation of sensors from Pepperl+Fuchs detects inclination angle and provides this information over a freely selectable range of angles with an integrity suited to industrial applications - and via a standard (4 - 20 mA) analog interface. The switch outputs can be simply parameterized by means of teach-in buttons - for example in the monitoring of limit angles.

Compact AS-Interface field module in the narrow G16 format
The narrow G16 module is only 30 mm wide and is ideally suited to applications in robotics, where space can be at a premium. It can be mounted in any position - in seconds - and its encapsulated electronics satisfy the protection classification IP69k. The connection of the sensor/actuator systems is via M8 metal threaded inserts, with connection to the flat cable of the AS-Interface via an M12 plug connector and a suitably adapted connection cable.

AS-Interface programming device in accordance with Specification V3.0

Fully compatible with the new AS-Interface Specification 3.0, Pepperl+Fuchs offers a new programming device for a considerably accelerated programming of slaves, to avoid the double addressing of slaves and for the testing of up to four inputs and outputs. Another new feature is the option of reading out the code sequence of safety slaves. This supports the configuration process of the safety monitor in particularly intricate applications.

Mobile RFID read/write devices (125 kHz, 250 kHz and 13.45 MHz)
The RFID technology is becoming of ever greater significance in goods logistics. It is for this reason that Pepperl+Fuchs has extended it's product range with three mobile read/write devices for 125 kHz, 250 kHz and 13.56 MHz. The integrated display enables the display and input of data. The devices have a large data memory and the possibility of transfer by Bluetooth or by cable to a PC. User-specific software (Java Applet) takes care of the simple achievement of specific functions, such as goods inwards controls, stores inventory and process data quality factors.

MAC400 data matrix reader for fast processes

The MAC400 data matrix reading device with integrated CMOS sensor is particularly well equipped for the detection of rapidly moving codes (10 m/s) with high resolution. Space-critical applications can be satisfied by the robust metal housing, which is only 60 mm tall. The data matrix reader offers an MMC card rack for memory expansion and a VGA output for optimum image control.

Welding cap sensor WTS10 – a new generation
It costs time and money when the welding caps of robots in the processing industry no longer provide optimum welding quality, or become burned away or start to produce cutting errors.  Therefore Pepperl+Fuchs now offers the WTS10 welding cap sensor, which monitors the quality of the welding cap faces on both sides of the housing, after the welding operation. The sensor is characterized by a large positional and tilt angle tolerance, a high switching accuracy and impressive display concept.

Image processing solutions for inspection and verification

VMT Bildverarbeitungssysteme GmbH - a company in the Pepperl+Fuchs Group - offers the latest technologies and methods for type and component inspection. Examples of these are to be seen in solutions for specific branches of industry for assembly control and the reading and verification of lettering and symbols of all types. VMT image processing solutions are mature, industrially-oriented systems, which are being continuously further developed in collaboration with our customers.
