At the Biotechnica Tosoh Bioscience presents two new advancements for its TSK-GEL® HILIC columns and TOYOPEARL® IEC resins

The new 3 µm TSK-GEL Amide-80 HILIC columns are the latest addition to the well-known TSK-GEL Amide-80 series from Tosoh Bioscience. Hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) is the method of choice for the analysis of very polar compounds by HPLC as well as by LC-MS, where it offers unique advantages. The high organic content of the eluents supports efficient evaporation of the solvent, thus enhancing sensitivity and altering ion suppression compared to reversed phase chromatography. TSK-GEL Amide-80 3µm microbore columns are particularly suited for LC-MS-analysis of glycans in the emerging field of glycomics research. They reduce analysis time and improve resolution and sensitivity for HPLC and LC-MS analysis.

The new Toyopearl GigaCap® S-650M is a strong cation exchange resin for packed bed chromatography at process scale. It is the first in a family of strong ion exchange resins, developed to meet the needs in high throughput purification of biomolecules from high concentration feedstocks. Based on the well proven methacrylic polymer backbone of Toyopearl and TSK-GEL media, GigaCap S combines excellent pressure flow characteristics with unmatched dynamic binding capacities and high recoveries for both IgGs and smaller proteins. Latest surface modification technology was applied to increase the content of functional groups at the particle surface thus reaching binding capacities up to 150 mg IgG per ml resin. Similar binding capacities can be achieved for smaller proteins like Insulin. The new GigaCap resins are also available as prepacked 1 and 5 ml ToyoScreen® columns for early resin screening.
