2D Barcode Boarding Gate Reader

Access Keyboards has announced the BGR120S, the worlds first boarding gate reader designed simply to read the new 2D bar coded boarding passes (2D BCBPs). Having none of the mechanical complexity required to read ATB2 magnetically encoded coupons, it is an extremely compact and easy-to-use solution for future boarding gate reader applications.

The BGR120S reads 2D BCBPs and home-printed passes face up, making it easy to align the bar code for instant reading. The near-zero latency imager will read a bar code as soon as it is held in the bright target zone. The device works with IATA recommended PDF417, 2D and linear symbols and its fast omni-directional imager can even read 2D barcode images from a PDA or cell phone display.

The new reader has a 2 x 16 character display with bright LED indicators and a user-programmable sounder to provide clear feedback to the operator.

A wide range of emulations is available for connection to Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE) or dedicated systems and, to ensure that the units are future-proof, new firmware can be remotely downloaded into them.

Housed in an attractive ABS enclosure, the reader is rugged, compact and lightweight. Overall dimensions are 7.1 (D) x 3.9 (H) x 3.9 (W) inches (180 x 100 x 100 mm).

Access Keyboards, an ISO9001 accredited company based in Reading (UK), designs, manufactures and distributes equipment that enables fast and accurate input of information into electronic systems.
