Parallel Evaporation Safe and Fast

Development of new pharmaceutical products often comprises a variety of samples with differing solvents and volumes. This applies in particular to multistage synthesis, extraction, or chromatographic purification, respectively. Conventional concentration to defined volumes with a rotary evaporator requires individual sample handling, which is often time-consuming. The Syncore Polyvap of Büchi Labortechnik is designed to find a solution to these problems. Parallel evaporation of 4 to 96 samples, ranging in volume from 1 to 500ml, is achieved using interchangeable racks. Cross-contamination is prohibited by a specially designed vacuum cover with separated connectors. The samples are thoroughly agitated by vortex action within the tubes. Therefore, different solvent types or unbalances do not cause any problems as known with centrifugal concentrators. Transparent construction allows permanent monitoring of the evaporation process. Thus, ideal evaporation conditions are achieved, bumping is prevented, and enhanced operational safety is guaranteed. Solvents with very high boiling points, such as DMSO or DMF, can effectively be evaporated applying vacuum (< 10mbar), ­assisted by an independently heatable vacuum cover.
