Septron Bio-Safe: the world's first EDI module with membrane stage

With Septron Bio-Safe, Christ now offers the world's first electro-deionisation module with an integrated membrane stage. It is based on the proven and patented spiralwound technology and has an additional membrane stage for removal of particles and bacteria. The EDI module is available in a cold-water version and a version which can be sanitised with hot water. Both versions are available in various sizes with outputs of 500 to 3,000 l/h. The combination of this module with a preceding reverse osmosis stage makes it possible – without additional ultrafiltration – to produce Highly Purified Water (HPW) with bacterial counts of ≤ 10 CFU/100 ml. The module can be retrofitted quickly and easily on existing Osmotron systems and permits a considerable improvement in the microbiological safety of existing pure water systems.

The cold-water version of the Septron Bio-Safe offers the benefits of high pure water quality and low energy costs and is particularly suitable for pharmaceutical applications where high efficiency and low costs are important. Long-term bacteria-free operation is assured by periodical replacement of the membrane stage during routine maintenance of the pure water system by a Christ service engineer. If desired, the integrity of this stage can be checked at any time. The membrane stage is exchanged with the aid of a special replacement kit which ensures contact-free handling, thus ensuring GMP-compliant operation of the system. No intervention by the user is necessary.

In the hot-water-resistant Septron Bio-Safe, the complete system, including the preceding process steps, can be sanitised at > 80 °C, resulting in even better system safety.
