Optics for precision COVIDIS
Dortmund. INTACTON GmbH, a subsidiary of the FRABA group, presents COVIDIS, an innovative optical sensor system for contact-free velocity and length measurement. Due to the highly integrated design, this easy-to-adjust sensor opens up new possibilities for plant manufacturers.
The modular COVIDIS sensors consist of an LED illumination, a high-speed camera, transmitting and receiving optics and processing electronics. The devices automatically compensate for varying distances between the sensor and the measured object. They also cover a wide speed measuring range of -50...+50 m/s. The high-precision sensors have a measurement uncertainty of less than 0.05 % and are thus fit for use in applications such as quality assurance, process control and waste reduction, e.g. in paper production. They are also suitable for rugged industrial environments.
