First test cases for mobile videotelephony

A UMTS mobile phone offers far more than mere phone call functionality. The camera function and the UMTS network let you see the person you are talking to on the display. This is made possible by videotelephony, a UMTS feature. Rohde & Schwarz is now the first company worldwide to offer videotelephony test cases for certifying the required user equipment. The R&S CRTU-WF01 option provides the Protocol Tester R&S CRTU-W with six test cases for this function.

The Global Certification Forum (GCF), an association of mobile phone manufacturers, network operators and the test industry, has validated test cases for videotelephony. These test cases can now officially be used by manufacturers. Rohde & Schwarz is thus the partner with whom mobile phone manufacturers can prepare their user equipment for videotelephony certification. The new option integrates seamlessly into the current portfolio of protocol testers R&S CRTU from Rohde & Schwarz, making it easy to enhance existing models with the new functionality.
